Get your students involved in the Respect Competition

26 August 2024

The Federal Government have launched a Respect Competition as part of the Stop it at the Start campaign that encourages young people to think about respect and what it means to them.

The competition is open to both primary and secondary students across Australia and is a great opportunity to create a short story that could be turned into a 30 second animation.

Scripture highlights the nature of respect, People don't have worth because they agree with us, they have worth because they are humans created in the image of God.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them”. ~ Genesis 1:26-27

Respecting someone is not the same as affirming everything he or she may believe. In 1 Peter chapter 3 we find

“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defence to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, but with gentleness and respect;”

We encourage member schools to inspire students to submit entries into the competition highlighting respect and what it means to them, encouraging them to consider respect from a Biblical perspective.

A panel of judges will select winners and runners-up for each competition category.

The winners in each of the primary and secondary categories will have their storyboard created into a 30 second animation by a professional animator, and will receive:
1 x $500 gift card for the student(s) entering the competition
1 x $500 gift card for their school.

You can find the full details regarding the competition here
